DUBAI, 28th October, 2016 (WAM) — Sixteen winners of the AED2.8 million Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences were approved by the award patron, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, during a meeting on Thursday with Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Chairman of the Award’s Board of Trustees.
The awards ceremony to honour the winners of the 9th cycle for the three categories: international, Arab and UAE, will be held on the margins of the 9th Dubai International Conference for Medical Sciences from 14th till 16th of December.
The theme of the International Awards, namely Grand Hamdan Award, is on the topic of gastroenterology, Hamdan Awards for Medical Research excellence, on the topics of colon and liver disorders, and pancreatic diseases, and Hamdan Award for volunteers in humanitarian medical services.
The Arab World Awards include the Hamdan Award for the Best Medical College / Institute / or centre, and Hamdan Award for Distinguished Personalities from the Arab world.
The United Arab Emirates Awards are in three categories: Hamdan Award for an Outstanding Clinical Department in the Public Sector in UAE, Hamdan Award for Honouring Individuals Working in the Field of Medicine and Health, Hamdan Award for Original Research Paper Published in Hamdan Medical Journal.
