UAE participates in tenth session of the WTO Ministerial Conference in Nairobi

NAIROBI, 16th December, 2015 (WAM) — The United Arab Emirates has participated in the tenth sessions of the Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation, MC10, which began in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, yesterday.

The UAE delegation was headed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and included about 30 members, as the country holds a significant economic position at the national, regional and global level in the facilitating business field.

The four-day conference was opened by Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya, with the participation of 162 Trade Ministers, and members of the organisation, along with representatives from Liberia and Afghanistan.

A speech by Al Mansouri will be delivered on behalf of the UAE at the meeting of the General Committee of the Ministerial Conference, to be held on Wednesday in the presence of ministers of member states in the organisation.

Al Mansouri was chaired a ministerial meeting for Arab countries, members of the World Trade Organisation in Nairobi to coordinate their respective positions on important issues, such as the opening of the tenth WTO Ministerial Conference.

The Arab Ministerial Group agreed at its meeting yesterday to establish an Arabic technical support team through the “Aid Programme for Trade”, which is sponsored by the Islamic Development Bank.

The aim of establishing the support group is to promote Arab-Arab missions and the capabilities of negotiators in Geneva in negotiating various technical topics that fall within the framework of multilateral trade negotiations.
