She highlighted the need to discuss this vision with the United Nations during a meeting of Speakers of the Parliaments on the sidelines of UN General Assembly Meeting.
In her speech on ” The need to achieve a balanced development in light of the political, economic and social situation in the world” before the 128th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, Al Qubaisi confirmed that this session is being held under a number of escalating global crises making everyone responsible for what is happening in the world, regardless of the geographic location.
She also highlighted that globalization policies canceled political borders between the countries and all become partners in the international issues, whether the economic crisis in Greece or events in Syria or climate change and its impacts on the environment and ecosystems.
Al Qubaisi stressed that the UAE adopts all policies aiming to achieve a balanced and sustainable development and encourages renewable energy sources noting that the state plays a leading role as a global hub for research and development in the field of renewable energy.
In her speech, she also emphasized the necessity of ending the Iranian occupation of the UAE’s three islands of the Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Mousa.
In this context, she said that Iran still insists on imposing de facto policies on these islands without any consideration of UAE’s initiatives and calls to resolve the crisis peacefully through bilateral negotiations or international arbitration.
She stressed that Iran’s occupation of three UAE islands is a violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles and values of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the international rules of friendly relations among nations on the basis of mutual respect and non-occupation of other’s territories by force.
The meeting was attended by delegation of the parliamentary division including, Rashid Al Shariqi, Faisal Al Tunaiji, Ahmad Al Mansouri, Ali Al Nuaimi and Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi, FNC’s Assistant Secretary General for Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs along with Mohammed Issa Al-Qattam Al-Za’abi, UAE Ambassador to Argentina and Non Resident Ambassador to Peru.
