UAE distributes more school supplies in Yemen

HADRAMAUT, 31st October, 2016 (WAM) — Yemeni school students in the Hajr district of the southern governorate of Hadramaut on Monday received school bags, boards, chairs, desks and other school supplies from the Emirates Red Crescent team as part of a new effort by the UAE agency to support education in the country.

The effort will cover all districts of Hadramaut where the Emirates Red Crescent team will oversee the distribution of supplies, the head of the UAE relief team in Hadramaut Matar Al Ketbi said, and stressed that the UAE takes a keen interest in supporting education and infrastructure projects and helping underprivileged families who cannot afford schooling for their children.

Deteriorating infrastructure in the Hajr district, including the power grid, roads and telecommunications, is in dire need for renovation and even reconstruction, he noted.

Thanking the UAE humanitarian agency for supporting education in the governorate, local officials noted that a hanging bridge should be built at the entrance of the district as soon as possible to enable locals to transport agricultural products to other districts and governorates.
