UAE chairs Customs Procedures and Information Meeting in Cairo

CAIRO, 24th May, 2016 (WAM) — The UAE has chaired the16th meeting of the Customs Committee on Procedures and Information, which was launched on Monday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.

The meeting was chaired by Shatha Abdul Rahman bin Faris, Chairman of Customs Policies Department of the Federal Customs Authority, who represented the UAE delegation along with Tariq Abdullah Bourhima, Chairman of the Customs Affairs Department at the Federal Customs Authority.

Shatha Abdul Rahman bin Faris said that the four-day event will discuss a set of important topics, in particular the member states’ observations on a draft model for a unified Arab customs declaration circulated by the Arab League’s Secretariat-General to member states,.

The chairman noted that the meeting also will discuss the exchange of electronic information among Arab countries, customs exits, the transit model issued by the technical committee assigned to developing the Arab transit agreement, “Transit”, within Arab countries.
