The President of the Authority’s Youth Council represents the UAE in the Gulf Youth Forum

The Director of Strategy and Future Department and the President of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources’ Youth Council, Meitha Kolthoum, participated in the Second Edition of the Gulf Youth Forum which was held by the Ministry of Sports of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in early October in Riyadh. A distinguished group of young men and women from the Gulf Cooperation Council’s various member countries, who were nominated by the ministries of youth and sports of their respective countries, also participated in the event.

Meitha Kolthoum expressed her happiness for being chosen, along with three other young Emirati nationals, by the Federal Youth Authority to represent the United Arab Emirates in the Gulf Youth Forum which grants them the opportunity to represent the UAE’s youth in forums overseas and to exchange the best experiences and expertise on youth issues and their empowerment with participants from other countries in the region.

In the Forum, the participants discussed the Gulf identity’s current challenges and common elements, highlighted the features, concept, and relevance of the Gulf identity’s soft power and its relationship with public diplomacy, explained how to strengthen and realize the Gulf identity through the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council, elaborated on the future of business innovation and the importance of developing youth capabilities and the role of the business sector in developing small, medium and emerging programs in the GCC countries, and discussed how to prepare youth cadres to take part in international, local and regional forums, events and conferences.

Furthermore, many ideas and future insights were also put forward to overcome the difficulties and obstacles facing the youth, and key recommendations were presented to support the establishment of joint Gulf programs and activities. The participants also emphasized the importance of empowering young people and creating opportunities that best suit their ambitions and interests.

The event also included a field visit to the King Abdulaziz Center for National Dialogue where the participants met with the Center’s officials and were briefed on its work and activities. Due to the significance of this event, the outcomes of the Forum will be presented in the next meeting of the Committee of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, the Ministers of Youth and Sports in the GCC, who will provide their guidance and advise on this regard.
