Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi welcomes Dr. Jim Kurose to opening of Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence

ABU DHABI, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, SUAD, is honoured to host Dr. Jim Kurose, Former Assistant Director for Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the US National Science Foundation, Former Assistant Director for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Visiting Professor and Advisor at SCAI at the opening of the Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence.

During the ceremony, the distinguished professor will deliver a presentation titled, ‘Artificial Intelligence: Promises, Challenges and Global Perspectives’. He will enumerate the future prospects of artificial intelligence in various fields including health, education and science discoveries. The scholar also will discuss trustworthy AI systems, their working mechanisms and the challenges associated with them. The audience will receive insight into international AI activities, SCAI’s significant contributions towards the excellence of interdisciplinary research, education, and various other aspects concerning artificial intelligence.

Professor Jean Chambaz, The President of Sorbonne University and Vice Chairman of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi commented, “We are delighted to host Dr. Jim Kurose, the internationally renowned, award winning academic who has specialised in artificial intelligence and its associated science.”

He added, “We are confident that his support for the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence, modelled after its counterpart in Paris-Sorbonne University is integral, as the organisation aims to host research education chairs here in partnership with Thales Group and Total, in addition to advancing research and literature in the field of artificial intelligence, whilst also contributing towards the sustainable development of the UAE.”
