Sharjah Ruler receives Moroccan poets

SHARJAH, 29th October, 2016 (WAM) — H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, today met a delegation of Moroccan poets at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies (Dara).

Sheikh Sultan welcomed them to Sharjah, which recognises Arabic poetry as a pillar of Arab identity and its long history. He also stressed the importance of protecting the cultural legacy of Arab poetry for future generations.

Also, Sheikh Sultan confirmed the importance of organising poetry, cultural meetings and programmes that bring together poets and writers from Arab countries and contribute to the exchange of their poetic experience.

The poets extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Sultan for his continuous support to the poets throughout the Arab world and interest in the Arab poetry initiatives.

A number of officials attended the meeting.
