Sharjah Ruler receives Chairman of the Arab Sports Council

Sharjah, 4rd October, 2015 (WAM) — H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has called for engaging all segments of society in efforts to promote sports and healthy activities.

Sheikh Sultan made these remarks during a meeting today with Prince Talal bin Badr bin Saud, Chairman of the Arab Sports Council and Chairman of the Executive Bureau of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees, in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan praised the efforts being made by the Council to promote sports across the Arab World, adding that the emirate of Sharjah was making tremendous efforts to make sports accessible to all segments of the society.

”Women sports are gaining increasing momentum in the emirate but without compromising local values and traditions, thanks to the support lent to women sports in the UAE and outside by Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies Club,” H.H. noted.

On his part, Prince Talal appreciated the efforts being made by Sheikh Sultan and his wife Sheikha Jawaher to promote and support sports, in particular women sports, which resulted in the UAE hosting leading sports competitions for Arab women.
