Sharjah Chamber confirms strength of trade relations between UAE and India

SHARJAH, 23rd February, 2016 (WAM) — Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SCCI, has confirmed that the strong and solid relations between the UAE and the Republic of India, dating back hundreds of years, have formed a solid foundation on which to build many areas of cooperation partnerships, and contributed to seeing an exemplary relationship extended to several sectors.

Al Owais said that these factors have made India one of the most prominent economic partners of the UAE. He said that the participation of manpower and expertise has contributed positively to the overall development of the country and is considered another addition to the level of the distinctive economic relations between the two countries.

This came during a lunch hosted by the SCCI at its headquarters in honour of a high-ranking economic delegation headed by R. K. Aggarwal, Chairman of the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association, AIPMA, on the occasion of the participation of the official Indian delegation to the third edition of the Plastivision Arabia International Plastics Exhibition and Conference. The event runs until 25th February at the Expo Centre Sharjah, along with an accompanying conference entitled, ‘Investment in India’.

The Investment in India conference is one of the major exhibitions that the Sharjah Expo Centre runs throughout the year. The participation of India with a large official and commercial delegation is a confirmation on the distinctive historical trade relations between India and the UAE in general, and Sharjah in particular.

The luncheon ceremony was attended by a number of members of the Board of Directors of SCCI, CEO of Sharjah Expo Centre, Saif Mohammed Al Madfa’a, and Director-General of the Sharjah Chamber, Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, as well as a number of businessmen and investors from both the UAE and India.
