SCB to kick off Sunday featuring 376 Artworks from 785 Children

SHARJAH,13th January, 2017 (WAM) — The fifth edition of the highly-anticipated Sharjah Children Biennial, SCB, will begin on Sunday at the Sharjah Art Museum in Al Shuwaihean area.

Held under the banner ‘A World as Big as Your Imagination’, the event runs until February 15th, 2017, and features some of the best international young talent whose artworks have been nominated to compete this year.

The opening ceremony of SCB, which is held under the patronage of the Wife of H.H. the Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, will include a tour of the 376 artworks created by 785 children from across the world. The artworks were all submitted into one of the competition’s three categories: Environment, Architecture Design and Fantasy and Reality.

The ceremony will also feature a number of artistic workshops and interactive activities for children under the supervision of expert artists from various genres of architectural, visual and fine arts.

The workshops will be held throughout SCB to enhance children’s love of the arts, and provide them with the opportunity to challenge, develop and ultimately hone their capabilities even further, as well as motivate them to have fun while using their imagination.

Organised by Sharjah Children Centres under the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and the Wife of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, SCB seeks to develop children’s artistic talents, encouraging them to broaden their scope of vision and imagination, as well as engage them with talented artists to support their artistic experience and abilities.
