Qatar and Belarus to boost bilateral cooperation

DOHA, 31st October, 2016 (WAM) — Qatar and Belarus have signed several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding to boost bilateral cooperation in various spheres.

According to the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, BelTA, the agreements were concluded at the end of the talks between H.H. the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and Belarus President, Alexander Lukashenko.

A Memorandum of Understanding to advance cooperation in healthcare was signed in the presence of the leaders of the two countries. Also concluded was a Memorandum of Academic and Scientific Cooperation between the Belarusian State Medical University and the University of Qatar.

The Finance Ministries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in financial matters. A Memorandum of Understanding was also concluded between the Development Banks of Belarus and Qatar.

As BelTA earlier confirmed, the two countries are entering a new level of credit and financial cooperation. The signing of the corresponding Memorandum will provide an opportunity of attracting credit resources on concessional terms for the projects that are financed by the Development Bank of Belarus.
