Muslim Council of Elders condemns Houthis' attempted missile attack on Makkah

CAIRO, 29th October, 2016 (WAM)– The Muslim Council of Elders has strongly condemned the rebel Yemeni Houthi group’s attempt to target Makkah city, home to the most sacred sites in Islam, including the Grand Mosque, with a ballistic missile on Thursday, labeling it as a “despicable” act that requires a decisive response.

“The targeting of the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) which Allah made a place of resort and a sanctuary for mankind does expose the truth of perpetrators who are carrying out abominable sectarian agendas,” the Muslim Council of Elders said in a statement.

The attack provokes the feelings of all Muslims in the world and contravenes ethical, religious and human values and requires “a decisive and deterrent response” against those behind it, the Council added.
