An official source in the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation told the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the necessary measures have been taken regarding the seized shipment, which is equivalent to 799 cartons of apples. The source pointed out that the competent authorities in the ministry did not issue any permit to import foreign apples, and that the entry of quantities before the start of the local apple season was illegal and comes within the framework of systematic targeting of local products. The source called on importers to abide by the laws and regulations governing the import process and not to smuggle foreign products because of their damage to the national economy.
