Minister of Energy leads UAE delegation to 6th Ministerial Conference of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum

ABU DHABI, 7th November, 2015 (WAM) — Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, has said that the UAE is the first country in the Middle East to use the best technology to develop its carbon sequestration industry, which is the long-term storage of carbon dioxide or other forms of carbon to defer global warming and avoid dangerous climate change.

The Minister spoke during a panel discussion held under his chairmanship at the opening session of the 6th Ministerial Conference of the Carbon Sequestration Leadership Forum, CSLF, which was recently held in Riyadh, where he also highlighted the UAE’s leading contributions in using carbon separation and capture technologies.

During the session, participants reviewed the experiences and contributions of a number of countries and international companies in the field, highlighting the importance of cooperation and providing expertise to other countries.

The UAE delegation also included Dr. Matar Hamed Al Neyadi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, and Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Petroleum Sector.
