ABU DHABI, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), attended the launch of the Special Olympics World Games, Abu Dhabi 2019, which took place today at the Zayed Sports City.
Sheikha Fatima expressed her admiration for the world games, which aims to highlight the capabilities of people of determination to interact with the entire community while stressing that the UAE has become a leading country in terms of empowering people of determination.
Sheikha Fatima received separately Princess Nouf bint Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al Saud, Chairperson of the International Rehabilitation Team of Saudi Arabia; Sheikha Sheikha Al Abdullah Al Sabah, President of the Special Olympics of Kuwait; H.H. Princess Nora of Liechtenstein; Sharifa Lalla Sumaya Al Wazzani, President of the Special Olympics of Morocco; H.H. Princess Tessy of Luxembourg, and Lee Pin, Vice Chair of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC.
Sheikha Fatima briefed the guests about the support of the UAE’s wise leadership for Emirati women, children and people of determination.
She then noted the humanitarian and moral role of every citizen and resident of the UAE while highlighting its efforts to respect the rights of people of determination and integrate them into the community.
She also affirmed that Emirati women are key partners in ensuring the success of the Special Olympics while noting that those who are people of determination have achieved many sporting accomplishments for the country, and are partners in achieving the country’s comprehensive development.
The guests praised Sheikha Fatima’s support for women, children and people of determination, which highlights her awareness of their importance and their participation in the country’s development.
