Health Supplement Rumour

Dubai Municipality has issued a clarification regarding the warning that is being circulated recently in the media against the use of a health supplement, “Weight Rapid Loss Capsule,” because it contains phenolphthalein, which is banned due to its potential cancer risks.

Dubai Municipality emphasized that the aforementioned product is not circulated in the local markets of the Emirate, and it has also not been found that it was imported from the outlets according to the relevant databases.

The Municipality informed that health supplements, whether locally manufactured, imported or traded in the market, are subject to an integrated monitoring system that starts from inspection at all ports of the Emirate of Dubai and permitting the import of consumer products and circulating them only after they meet the approved specifications. In addition to that a periodic inspection program is conducted at licensed establishments in the Emirate to ensure and verify their compliance. Samples are collected to ensure the trade of safe consumer products that conform to the approved specifications.

The Municipality appealed to the public to contact it in case they want to inquire or confirm the news or when any problem occurs as a result of the use of any consumer products in general. Public can call 800900 or contact through Montaji window in the Dubai Municipality Smart App or checking the Confirmed News section in Dubai Municipality website, www.dm.gov.ae.
