RAS AL KHAIMAH, 29th January, 2017 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, instructed emirate authorities to provide every assistance to organisers of the 4th Dubai Tour to ensure the success of the race.
The five stage professional cycling tour, which kicks off on the morning of 31st January and will continue through 4th February, has attracted 16 teams that will compete over a combined distance of 865 kilometres. The race starts in Dubai and will travel through six emirates.
The second stage starts on 1st February from Dubai International Marine Sports Club at King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Street, and will head towards Ras al-Khaimah over a distance of 187 kilometres. Cyclists will pass by Umm Suqeim Street, Al Khail Street, Ras Al Khor Street, Al Aweer Street and Emirates Street. It will then enter Sharjah and continue through Ras al-Khaimah.
Sheikh Saud issued his instructions during a meeting with the race’s higher organising committee, led by Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of Dubai Sports Council. He thanked the organisers for selecting Ras al-Khaimah as a destination for stage two.
”The UAE leadership lends support to sports as an important enabler and source of happiness, positive energy and health,” he added.
Hareb presented the Tour Shield to the Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah in recognition of his support for the race.
