Ambassadors of Giving Initiative holds first brainstorming session for persons with hearing disabilities

DUBAI, 29th January, 2017 (WAM) — The Ambassadors of Giving Initiative, launched by the Emirates Vision Media Network, held its first brainstorming session for the deaf nationwide, which discussed their problems and invited suggestions to aid them.

The Ambassadors of Giving Initiative was begun, in line with the announcement by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan that 2017 will be the Year of Giving across the UAE, the aim of which would be to strengthen the values of co-operation and love in the community through the media and social media.

The session, which was hosted by La Villa Caf? in the Emirate of Ajman, was attended by Media Consultant Abdullah Al Shehhi, CEO of Emirates Vision Media Network and the Ambassadors of Giving, along with sign language expert Fatimah Al Manai, social activist Sarah Hamada, media personality Ahmed Al Jassmi, and citizens with hearing disabilities.

Participants with hearing disabilities praised the efforts made by the authorities to assist them, while discussing the obstacles they faced at work, school and in their social lives.

Al Manai stressed the importance of these sessions, which would benefit those with hearing disabilities. She valued the role played by the Emirates Vision Media Network in launching the Ambassadors of Giving Initiative.

Activist Hamada described the session as fruitful and highlighted the simplicity of the requests and suggestions made by the attendees with hearing disabilities, such as having a logo that would set them apart from those with other disabilities, and help them with learning to use hearing aids, and establishing an educational institute and club for them. The authorities said they will spare no efforts to carry out these requests, she added.

Media personality Al Jassmi said this first session would lead to many more, the goal of which would be to benefit different sectors of society.
