UAE strongly condemns terrorist attack in northern Sinai

ABU DHABI, 9th January, 2017 (WAM)– The United Arab Emirates, UAE, has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a security checkpoint in the northern Sinai city of al-Arish on Monday, that had resulted in the martyrdom of seven security personnel and a civilian while wounding others.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the UAE expresses its vehement condemnation of such criminal acts as well as its firm and principled rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, and reaffirms its strong support for, and firm stand with the Arab Republic of Egypt against these serious crimes.

The ministry stressed that such cowardly terrorist acts will not affect the resolve and determination of the Egyptian people to continue to strongly confront terrorism that does not belong to any nation, religion or ethics.

The ministry further stressed that this terrorist act is in complete violation of all human and religious principles and values.

Concluding its statement, the ministry extended the UAE’s condolences to the families of the martyrs, and the Egyptian government and people, and wished for speedy recovery for the wounded.
