Lubna Al Qasimi meets religious leaders in Egypt, reiterates UAE's support for peace and coexistence

CAIRO, 29th June, 2016 (WAM) — Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance, reaffirmed that the UAE has always been and continues to be an advocate of peace, a symbol of harmony, and an incubator of the values of coexistence and dialogue.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi made these comments Tuesday during her visit to the sisterly country of Egypt, where she met Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Muhammad Ahmed El-Tayeb and Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark.

The minister said the UAE’s foundations are based on the promotion of tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance of other people’s values, emphasising solidarity and dialogue between cultures.

Sheikha Lubna explained that the UAE leadership, government, and people had renounced all forms of hatred, discrimination, violence, and extremism.

The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar said the UAE leads the way in finding inspirational solutions for the future and takes its religious responsibility seriously through the achievement of harmony among all members of society and its rejection of hatred and extremism.
