SHARJAH, 20th May, 2016 (WAM) — Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club, Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Deputy Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies Club, opened the inaugural Sharjah Bridal Fair (SBF), which is organised by Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC) from May 19th-22nd.
The Sharjah Bridal Fair attracts more than 100 exhibitors from the GCC countries, representing some of the world’s most renowned wedding fashion brands and major wedding service providers.
The opening ceremony was attended by Khawla Al Serkal, Director of Sharjah Ladies Club, Hanan Al Mahmoud, Director of Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre, Amani Al Ali, Manager of the Executive Office of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi and over 200 VIPs and special guests, society women, and fashion designers from the UAE and Arab region.
Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi attended the exclusive fashion show of Azzalia, a high-end Emirati brand officially launched in the opening day of the SBF by Sheikha Amal Bint Mana Al Maktoum. Azzalia seamlessly combines latest international fashion designs with Emirati traditional feel and is set to pave the way for Emirati talented designers to enter the world of fashion entrepreneurship at the regional and international levels.
Chairperson of (Shurooq) and Deputy Chairperson of SLC attended another exclusive show by Esposa, which featured the latest creative designs of Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera, Oscar De La Renta, Esposa Couture, Isabel Sanchis, Tony Ward and Gemmy Couture. The show received a great response from visitors and fashion experts, alike.
Sheikha Bodour toured the exhibition, which is considered as one of the most luxurious bridal exhibitions in the Northern Emirates, and learnt about the exhibits which include the best wedding products and services, such as wedding gowns, evening dresses, cosmetics, jewellery, abayas and jellabiyas, hairdressing, wedding koshas, photography and video, perfume, henna, flower arrangements, confectionery, wedding planning services and honeymoon destinations.
The event aims to give prospective newlyweds from all nationalities a chance to meet the best wedding professionals and consultants in a one-stop-shop venue, and to have a plethora of choices that meet the needs of all segments of society and offer an exciting experience to every bride and groom, while informing them how to plan their big day smoothly and seamlessly.
Speaking on the occasion, Hanan Al Mahmoud said, “We are pleased to organize this most luxurious of its kind fair in the Northern Emirates, through which we are looking forward to providing all the wedding services and supplies under one roof, showcased by leading local and international brands who will offer a variety of collections at different prices to accommodate the different social segments. We wish to succeed in making the wedding day the beginning to a happy marriage for all young ladies and men in the region”, The first day included a talk on “Thriving Through the First Year of Marriage” delivered by Khalid Al Ameri and his wife Salama Mohammed and a talk on “Planning a Successful Marriage and Developing Marriage Skills” delivered by Psychologist Dr. Saud Al Marzouqi in collaboration with Sharjah Family Development Centres. Both talks were well attended by visitors who highly appreciated the focus on the educational aspects for a happy marriage. The first day conculuded with over 1000 visitors shopping at the fair, and attending its activities.
On the second day, the SBF provided visitors an entertaining performance by KG Production and Events, fashion shows by Dar Sara and Kainaat Jewel and a panel discussion titled “How much is too much to spend on a wedding?” moderated by Dubai TV presenter Rahaf Al Tawil, with panellists Project Managing Coach Hamed Al Ai from Sharjah Family Development Centres, Wedding Planner and Founder of Tibru Wedding Sheikha Hamad Mughawar, and Maitha Al Ariani who shared her personal experience in organizing her wedding day. Later, a talk on “Bride’s Four Week Pre-wedding Fitness Program” was delivered by Nathalie Basma, a renowned social media loved Nutritionist and Dietician.
On the sidelines of the Sharjah Bridal Fair, the “Sharjah Bridal Fair Awards 2016”, is being held, the awards aim to encourage aspiring UAE national fashion designers and upcoming talents and recognize their exceptional creativity in the three categories of Emerging Fashion Designer (Women’s Ready-to-Wear), Wedding Abayas, and Kaftans or Dresses Collection and the “Best Prototype Wedding App or Website” competition. Winners will be announced and honoured in the closing evening of the fair in May 22nd.
