ABU DHABI, 8th February, 2016 (WAM) – Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), today met with Angel Gurria, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development, (OECD), and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of the fourth edition of the World Government Summit, which is being held at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ways of strengthening co-operation relations between the FNC and the OECD in a number of areas, and proposed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between the two sides on research and the provisions of consulting, training and exchange of visits in all areas as requested by the FNC, most prominently pertaining to education, quality and formulation of laws, health, energy, and the environment.
The MoU will also focus on youth and community development, especially in improving skills in various work areas, particularly the OECD offers consultation in the parliamentary field to many parliaments around the world.
Dr. Al Qubaisi and Gurria also reviewed OECD achievements, and its statistical reports on education, women and the youth.
The Secretary-General of the OECD expressed his admiration for political and economic stability witnessed in the UAE, including the country’s progress and development in various fields.
The FNC Speaker also commended the active role of the OECD, and through its publications of important reports and studies.
