Sharjah Government Communication Award extends deadline for submission of entries to 11th February, 2016

SHARJAH, 1st February, 2016 (WAM) — Sharjah Media Centre, SMC, the media arm of the Sharjah government, has announced the extension of the deadline for the submission of entries to the third Sharjah Government Communication Award until 11th of February, 2016.

SMC’s decision comes in response to the unprecedented number of requests received from government and semi-government entities wishing to participate in the award and seeking further time to review their submissions and ensure conformance to the high standards of the competition.

Announcing the deadline extension, Tareq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said, “The surge for the third edition of the award has been discernible since the opening of nominations to federal and local government institutions.

Our decision to extend the deadline is in line with the Government of Sharjah’s efforts to strengthen competitiveness among various stakeholders engaged in government communication. We would also to like to reiterate that Sharjah Media Centre is fully committed to sharing updates with the media based on our policy of transparency at all stages of the award until the declaration of the winners.”

The third edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award, GCA, welcomes nominations in various categories from government communication departments and officials in the UAE. Students specialising in communication are also welcome to participate by uploading entries on the official web site.

The 12 awards given away under GCA are divided into two categories: the selection categories and nomination categories, the latter featuring 10 awards including three for Sharjah and seven for the rest of the UAE.
