SHARJAH, 29th January 2016 (WAM) — Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works, today was among the early voters who cast their ballot to choose half of the 42 members of the Sharjah Consultative Council.
The minister said voting is one of the rights of citizens in Sharjah where they elect representatives of their choice.
“That is why I made sure to choose whoever I consider a suitable candidate,” he said.
The Sharjah Consultative Council elections will continue until Sunday, 31st January, at polling centres in nine electoral zones across the emirate.
A total of 195 candidates, including 43 women, are in the fray for the 21 seats of the consultative body.
