NGOs donor conference pledges US$312m to Syrian refugees – IICO chief

KUWAIT, 28th January, 2016 (WAM) — US$312 million was promised at the Fourth International Pledging Conference for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to support the Syrians, the Chairman of the International Islamic Charitable Organisation, IICO, Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq announced on Thursday.

Al-Matouq, who is also Advisor at the Emiri Diwan, said in a press statement that the conference has seen a wide participation from NGOs worldwide. Financial promises made at the conference will fund education and health projects, said the Humanitarian Envoy to the UN, the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, reported today.

“The NGOs Pledging Conference paves the way to Syria Donors Conference, which will be held in London on February 4th,” Al-Matouq said. Syria Donors Conference in London will be co-hosted by Kuwait, UK, Germany, Norway and the UN.
