Civil Defence and National Fire Protection Association discuss mutual cooperation

ABU DHABI, 28th January, 2016 (WAM) — Major-General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Civil Defence General Commander-in-chief at the Ministry of Interior, has met with Donald Bliss, Vice President of the US based organisation, the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA, and Drew Azara, NFPA Regional Director.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of Intersec 2016, both parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Association and the UAE Civil Defence, with the aim of improving and upgrading joint action.

Major-General Al Marzouqui underlined the importance of developing scientific research processes and supporting creativity and innovation, in line with the directives of the UAE Government.

Mr. Bliss stressed the readiness of NFPA to provide support and training in all areas of fire fighting, rescue, prevention, and fire safety, in order to achieve the highest levels of protection of lives and properties.

On the same note, Brigadier General Mohammad Naseeb Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Fire, Protection and Safety Affairs, commended the association’s efforts in the field of training, saying, “The NFPA has provided accreditation for 16 engineers and 44 inspectors amongst the Civil Defence’s staff members at the countrywide level as certified experts in the field of prevention and fire safety,” he pointed out.
