Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation prepares for re-opening of date factory in Egypt

ABU DHABI, 26th January, 2016 (WAM) — The Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, KIDPA, has held several meetings with Egyptian officials, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, UNIDO, and the Food and Agriculture Organisation, FAO, regarding the re-opening of the date factory in the Egyptian oasis, Siwa, and holding the second Egyptian Date Palm Festival in the area, in implementation of the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Dr. Abdul Wahab Zayed, Agricultural Adviser at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and Secretary-General of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award, told WAM that the meeting discussed the possibility of opening the Siwa Date Factory within the next four months to prepare the next harvest in time for the festival in October, 2016.
