ABU DHABI, 25th January, 2016 (WAM) – A number of the Federal National Council (FNC) members stressed the importance of holding the first parliamentary consultative retreat, which concluded today, on Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
Chaired by the FNC Speaker Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi and held under the theme, “Looking forward to Future,” the parliamentary retreat, the first-of-its kind in the region, was dedicated to setting the FNC’s four-year strategy.
Hamad Al Rahoumi said, “The retreat is an innovative idea during which the members worked as a cohesive team work to discuss a number of issues and come up with new proposals that advance future parliamentary practice and achieve the FNC objectives in the best interest of the nation and citizens.”
Faisal Hareb Al Dhabahi said that the FNC’s strategic plan has been deliberated over the two days, with an emphasis on revamping the parliamentary exercise.
Saeed Khalfan Al Kaabi thanked the speaker for organising the session, with the aim to reach the best strategic plan in accordance with international parliamentary practices.
In her keynote address during the session, Al Qubaisi said, “Our meeting today is a landmark event that brings together an elite group of sincere national leaders who represent the loyal Emirati people and enjoy the trust of the wise leadership.”
“This session aims to perceive the future based on the present so as to contribute effectively to the comprehensive march of sustainable development under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” she said.
The four-year strategy will serve as a roadmap for the parliamentary performance focussed on the best international practices in administration and parliamentary work.
The FNC’s retreat reflects the council’s keenness to promote its national role and contribution to the comprehensive and balanced development in a manner that supports the UAE’s achievements in all domains as well as its foreign policy.
