Paris, 21st November, 2015 (WAM) – Dr. Abdullah Al-Rayes, Director-General of the National Archives and head of UNESCO’s Committee on Communication and Information, has called for governments and international organisations to mobilise their efforts and resources to stem out the menace of terrorism and reiterated the UAE’s solidarity with France in its fight against terrorism which struck its capital Paris on 13th November.
”While condemning in the strongest possible terms the cowardly terrorist attacks that took place in Paris, the UAE voices its vehement denunciation of targeting innocent people and calls for building an international alliance against terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and manifestations,” Al-Rayes said while speaking before a meeting for UNESCO member states in its headquarters in Paris.
These criminal acts, he stressed, would not deter the member states, including the UAE, from joining forces and standing together to confront and eradicate terrorism so as the world can enjoy peace, security and stability.
”Only concerted, united efforts of all states are capable of defeating the forces of evils that target the humanity,” he said, noting that UNSECO can play a crucial role in this battle through promotion of dialogue and education, as well as preservation of diverse cultural heritage. The ideology in which terrorism rests on, he added, can’t only be defeated by military force, but also through sound ideas and provision of good education in communities where tolerance, co-existence and love of peace prevail.
