ABU DHABI, 10th November 2015 (WAM) — Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the UAE’s Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime, has met with European Commissioner for Transport, Violeta Bulc, to discuss cooperation in railway industry and study the possibility of benefiting from the European Union’s experience.
At the meeting, Al Nuaimi briefed the EU official on the vision of the UAE for the transportation sector as well as its plans to enhance its regional and international role by improving efficiency of its transportation networks and achieving diversification by using the latest technologies, enacting legislation and raising public awareness about safety.
Legislation in the UAE, he noted, reflect the country’s interest in keeping pace with global developments and show its commitments to international conventions.
The minister also stressed the importance of benefiting from experiences of friendly countries in transportation.
The European Commissioner for Transport said the EU looks forward to enhancing economic and investment relations with the UAE, with a focus on the railway sector.
She expressed the EU’s desire to meet common expectations in this sector.
