DM collects old religious books from mosques

Dubai: Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality started the fourth phase of unwanted religious book collection through 30 mosques in different parts of Dubai. Around 50 containers of books and other religious print materials were collected in its previous campaigns.

Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department, said that the project is aimed at echo friendly disposal of unwanted religious publications which contains contents of Holy books in line with Islamic Sharia’h. The initiative will help the public to protect religious publications from throwing in waste bins.

We distributed collection containers to the mosques of Al Tawar, Muhaisina, Al Ras, Hor Al Anaz, Al Wuhaida, Al Baraha areas and Imams are requested to encourage public to use these containers,’ Saifaie said.

The collected materials will be recycled / disposed according to Islamic principles in cooperation with private sector.
