GCC Secretariat organises railway project workshop

RIYADH, 8th November, 2015 (WAM) — The Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council held a workshop on Sunday on economic returns and localisation of supportive industries for the GCC-wide railway project.

The Kuwaiti News Agency, KUNA, quoted the Secretariat as saying in a statement that the outcomes and recommendations of the one-day workshop will be presented to the 15th Industrialists Conference to be held in Kuwait on November 25th and 26th.

The workshop includes four main themes dealing with the experiences of some member states on the implementation of the railway project as well as the expected economic returns from the implementation of rail projects in GCC countries and their impact on economic integration among member states.

The workshop also discussed the training of national cadres for the development and operation of the railway projects in the GCC and the expected economic benefits of the project, in addition to encouraging the private sector to participate in financing, implementing and operating of the railway project as well as providing a suitable investment environment.
