Fujairah Crown Prince attends Emirati Women's Day celebration

FUJAIRAH, 25th August, 2016 (WAM) – H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, on Thursday attended a celebration organised by the Fujairah Youth Council on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day.

In a speech, Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the day, designated last year by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, recognises the outstanding role Emirati women are playing in successful family and social development in the UAE and the region.

“Emirati women continue to achieve their goals of development and prosperity of their country as they make up one half of society and are partners to men in building society. They are major partners in leading the progress of sustainable development. They assumed leading positions in the executive, legislative and judicial authorities,” he said.

He praised Sheikha Fatima for extending great support to women empowerment initiated and guided by the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Later, the crown prince of Fujairah attended a discussion circle about excellence of Emirati women.

The participants highlighted the support being extended to women by H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah.

He honoured a number of women for making outstanding efforts to serve society.
