FNC Speaker, Argentina’s Vice President hold talks on extensive co-operation

ABU DHABI, 2nd November, 2016 (WAM) — Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, today met Argentina’s Vice President Gabriela Michetti, who is currently touring the region, and the two discussed the bilateral relations between the UAE and Argentina.

During the meeting held at the FNC headquarters, talks centred on ways to enhance co-operation in a number of areas, including political, parliamentary, economic, investment and trade.

They stressed the importance of establishing a UAE-Argentine Parliamentary Committee to ensure better co-operation in various domains. It will further translate the aspirations of the two countries’ leaders to boost co-ordination between parliamentary bodies.

Dr. Al Qubaisi hailed the strong ties between the two countries and highlighted the potential of joint activities in economic and technology sectors. She also pointed at Masdar as an important and advanced centre in the engineering and energy fields.

Michetti, too, confirmed the importance of exchanging university students so that they will have better understanding of each other’s traditions besides knowledge exchange. She was also keen to leverage the two countries’ expertise in various fields, especially in the renewable energy space. She thanked the FNC Speaker for inviting her to the Global Summit of Women Speakers of Parliaments.

“FNC as a legislative institution contributes to the efforts aimed to build a secure and better future,” said the FNC Speaker. She further briefed Argentina’s Vice President about the UAE’s development in all domains due to the prudent leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Abdul Aziz Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council, Fernando Ramon Martinis, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina, and other dignitaries attended the meeting.
