FAHR signs a Memorandum of Cooperation with the British University of Strathclyde

Recently the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources signed a memorandum of cooperation with the British University of Strathclyde UAE for sharing experiences and knowledge. The university will implement a series of educational and development programs for federal government employees, including Master’s and PHD programs, at preferential and special prices, as part of the federal government’s e-learning portal “Al-Mawrid” initiative.

The Authority is represented in signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by H.E. Laila Obaid Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General, and Prof. David Hillier, Executive Dean of the Strathclyde Business School.

H.E. Laila Obaid Al Suwaidi, commenting on the partnership, welcomed the British University of Strathclyde in the UAE as a new strategic partner, confirming the Authority’s keenness to conclude local and global partnerships that benefit ministries and federal entities, and serve the Authority’s efforts to develop and enhance the efficiency of talents and capabilities working in the federal government through its various training activities and initiatives.

Al Suwaidi declared: “We highly appreciate the role played by educational institutions to achieve the Authority’s strategic goals, in order to enhance and develop Human Capital in the federal government, to acquire global leadership and ensure the provision of all services in accordance with standards of quality, efficiency and transparency, and to support the competitiveness of the UAE by empowering government competencies, in addition to raising productivity levels, and optimizing the investment of innovative systems and solutions for human capital management”.

Mr. Mustafa Shalash, Regional Director of the University of Strathclyde in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Middle East, said: “This agreement has strengthened cooperation between the Authority and the University, in line with the wise vision of the United Arab Emirates, which makes the development of education a national priority. Given that UAE is a pioneer in the Middle East and North Africa region, the University recognizes the need to transform knowledge and develop skills for innovation and change”.

Mr. Shalash added: “We must cooperate with the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources to play this important role in providing world-class education, and we are particularly pleased to cooperate with our partners to serve national development projects. The University also strives, through the Memorandum of Cooperation, to provide new knowledge in the labor markets, and to provide opportunities for practical training in various fields of advanced scientific research”.

Both parties agreed that the University would offer professional training programs through the “Al-Mawrid” initiative, one of the strategic initiatives of the Authority for Continuous Learning, and to make such initiative available to the federal authorities and their employees wishing to benefit from the said initiative at preferential prices with the purpose of developing and enhancing their specialized and general skills, in line with the future visions of UAE in terms of enhancing and developing knowledge in the growing sectors.
