European Union leader have called for an immediate ceasefire in Idlib, Syria, and urged all parties to allow humanitarian access to those in need.
In a statement for the 27 EU leaders in Brussels early Friday they said the renewed military offensive in Idlib is causing enormous human suffering, is unacceptable. They called for a immediate ceasefire.
They urged all parties to fully respect their obligations under international humanitarian law and and rights and to allow unimpeded and direct humanitarian access to all those in need.
“The EU reiterates its call for the situation in Syria to be referred to the International Criminal court, because of violations of human rights and humanitarian laws,” the statement noted.
