ABU DHABI, The number of people registered on the National Volunteering Platform, “Volunteers.ae,” amounted to 386,994 volunteers, according to the latest statistics from the official website of the platform.
The platform offers 6,756 volunteering opportunities in over 420 organisations around the country to its members, enabling them to perform their social duties in a stimulating environment.
The number of registered members reflects the growing demand among Emirati citizens and residents to participate in volunteer work, which the UAE aims to transform into a sustainable practice that will promote tolerance and social cohesion.
The smart platform aims to provide a comprehensive national volunteering database, which will express the social solidarity and synergy of the country’s citizens and residents and their adherence to the principles and values connected to the national identity.
The UAE Volunteer Platform – the first and largest nationwide smart initiative – operates a comprehensive, proactive programme of development and regulation and acts as a dynamic, easy-to-use resources for volunteerism and creates a culture of giving that will allow the UAE to be inspiration to others around the world.
With the aim to grow the UAE volunteer community, the portal also publishes volunteering opportunities and criteria of volunteers needed to help volunteers to study the event and their capabilities before applying. Volunteers are entitled to recognition in terms of awards and volunteering hours which can be added to build their online profile.
Launched in June 2017, the initiative provides volunteering opportunities in a number of sectors mainly education;humanitarian work;care for the elderly;health;culture and arts;sports; environment; community service; hope making; international volunteerism and emergency response.
