DOHA, 29th November, 2016 (WAM) — In a bid to ensure optimum participation in the third Emirates Energy Award, EEA, 2017, organised under the patronage of Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the theme “Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy”, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DSCE, held a press conference in Doha on Monday to help promote the award to representatives from public and private sector companies, colleges, universities and research centres.
“The award aims to develop innovative insights and ideal practices to create new methods and ways to achieve sustainable growth. Qatar is renowned for its remarkable expertise in the energy sector in general and renewable energy in particular. Hence, we decided to promote the award so that we can encourage companies and individuals to display their projects and facilitate the exchange of expertise in these fields,” said Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of DSCE and Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of EEA.
“The award provides an ideal opportunity for individuals, institutions and organisations from public and private sectors involved in areas such as energy efficiency management and alternative energy to participate in highlighting their developed innovations and solutions,” Al Muhairbi said. “We look forward to increasing the number of nominations from various sectors from Qatar within the corresponding categories, which will enhance and support the exchange of experiences and ideas among all.”
The press conference was attended by officials from DSCE, including Omar Al Qurashi, Vice Chairman of EEA Marketing and Events, and Naser Al Shaiba, Director of Environment, Health, Safety and Climate Change. Representatives from several companies, institutes and research centres, involved in energy research, renewable energy generation, energy conservation technologies and water, were also present to gain a thorough understanding of EEA’s goals, categories and other details.
DSCE officials gave a presentation on award categories and highlighted its leading role in encouraging innovation and creativity in energy and water space. They answered award-related queries and underscored the importance of regional participation in the event for supporting ways to create alternative energy solutions and develop technologies to achieve sustainable development and ensure environmental conservation.
