Doha to host 7th Ministerial meeting of China-Arab Cooperation Forum next Thursday

DOHA, 9th May, 2016 (WAM) — The State of Qatar is hosting the 7th Ministerial meeting of China-Arab Cooperation Forum in Doha on Thursday, in the presence of Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, and a number of Foreign Ministers of member states of the Arab League and the Secretary -General of the Arab League.

According to Qatar’s official news agency, QNA, the meeting will be preceded by the ministerial meeting of the 2nd China-Arab strategic political dialogue at the level of senior officials as well as the 13th Senior Officials meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.

On the sidelines of these meetings, an exhibition on technology of high-speed train; satellite navigation system and the electricity generation industry through nuclear energy and clean energy will be held.

Participants in the Forum are scheduled to consult on key regional developments, the Middle East peace process, the Syrian crisis, the situation in Yemen, Libya, and the fight against terrorism.

The meeting will also review the progress that has been made in the field of collective cooperation since the previous session and propose plans for follow-up and implementation of the outcome of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the region earlier this year.

The China-Arab Cooperation Forum was established in 2004 as a mechanism for collective cooperation aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between China and member states of the Arab League and partnership between the two sides in various political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.
