Arab League denounces Israeli decision on Settlement Division

CAIRO, 12th October, 2016 (WAM) — The Arab League has condemned the Israeli government’s recent decision to reactivate the Settlement Division activities to grant it full power to resume building settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ambassador Saeed Abu Ali, Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and occupied Arab lands at the Arab League, said, “The Settlement Division is the Israeli government’s direct and official tool to increase its random settlements in the West Bank and the rest of the Palestinian territories, without exceptions.”

He noted that the division is also well-funded, which enables it to allocate funds secretively in favour of gigantic settlement activities in the occupied territories.

“The Israeli government is still persistent on continuing with its settlement projects, despite escalating condemnations, denouncements, and rejections by the international community,” Abu Ali added.
