American Muslim preacher Estes arrives in Dubai

DUBAI: Yusuf Estes, an American Muslim preacher and teacher who was named the Islamic Personality of the Year at the 16th Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) has arrived in Dubai to receive the honor at the closing ceremony of the Award.

In statements upon arrival in Dubai, Estes hailed the efforts by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to support scholars.

He also hailed the Award for serving the Holy Quran and promoting the general standard of the Quranic performance in modern ways.

Estes was received by Ibrahim Bumelha, Chairman of the Award Organising Committee and Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, and members of the Committee.

Estes was chosen by the 11-category DIHQA as Islamic Personality of the Year among a group of nominees for his unremitting efforts to spread and preach Islam’s tolerant teachings and values in the West.

Born in 1944 in Texas to a musically talented Anglo-Saxon Christian protestant family, Yusuf Estes became a Muslim in 1991 and since then he has been very active in Islamic Dawa (call) in the West. He is always studying Islam, the Arabic language and the Quran while working day and night to present the correct message of Islam.
