Abu Dhabi Ship Building launches Emirati trainee programme

ABU DHABI, 26th October, 2016 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Ship Building, ADSB, has launched a training and development programme for young Emiratis to nurture their careers in the ship building and repairing industry.

There are currently 40 trainees enrolled in the first class of the technician development programme, which provides young Emirati talent with the skills to become professional mechanical and electrical technicians.

Trainees will receive 1,120 hours of theoretical and practical training over nine months in higher colleges of technology. Later, they will be evaluated using their performance scores and aptitudes to determine their interest in the mechanical and electrical fields.

“In line with the government’s vision of fostering Emirati talent, we are committed to developing ship building and technical capabilities in the UAE. The new training programme offers an exciting career path for Emirati youth within an industry that is contributing to the wider economic development of Abu Dhabi,” said Dr. Khaled Al Mazrouei, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ship Building.
