NEW YORK, 21st September, 2016 (WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met yesterday with Dr. Haider Al-Abadi, Prime Minister of Iraq.
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, touched on means of boosting joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed their political views with regard to the most prominent issues of common interest along with the latest developments in the regional and international arenas.
Sheikh Abdullah was briefed by Dr. Al-Abadi on the efforts made by his government to address the current challenges witnessed by Iraq. Al-Abadi expressed his country’s thanks and appreciation to the UAE for the contributions it continues to provide to the Iraqi people to alleviate their humanitarian, economic and institutional conditions and as well in the field of countering terrorism.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed highlighted the UAE’s continuing approach to providing assistance to the Iraqi government and people to help the country in its endeavours to achieve security and stability.
