433 Somali families receive food aid from Khalifa Foundation General August 16, 20120 SANAA: 443 Somali families received emergency food aid donated by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. Each of the food package contains 50 kg of wheat flour, 40 kg of sugar and rice and 3 liters of oil, according to Charge d’Affaires of the UAE’s Embassy in Sanaa Khaled Al Housani. The effort is in line with the recent directives by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Foundation to distribute food supplies worth AED500 million to the poor in Yemen. The Embassy oversees Yemen humanitarian aid operations launched by the UAE’s aid agencies. For his part, the Somali Ambassador to Yemen Maj. Gen. Ismail Hashim Naji expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generous initiative to help Somali refugees in Yemen. “We thank the leadership, the government and the people of the UAE for their fraternal position and support for the Somali refugees in Yemen,” Naji told WAM. He described the move as true expression of the authentic generosity of the people of the UAE which extends a helping hand to all the poor worldwide.
