UAE Environment Minister leads UAE delegation to COP18/CMP8 UN Climate Change Conference in Doha

WAM Doha, Dec 04th, 2012 (WAM)–UAE Environment and Water Minister Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, attended today evening the inaugural session of the COP18/CMP8 UN Climate Change Conference at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar attended the opening session.

The UAE delegation includes, UAE Ambassador to Qatar Jumaa Rashid Saif Al Dhahiri and Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Special Envoy for Energy and Climate Change and Chief Executive Officer of Masdar and Chief Executive officer of Masdar.

His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, a number of Presidents and Heads of governments, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bin Nasser, H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of Qatar, Ban Ki Moon, UN Secretary General and other senior officials.

Emir of Qatar called for tackling the climate change phenomenon, taking into account the right of all countries to achieve the sustainable development. He stressed the need for concerted international cooperation to address the challenges of climate change.
